Corn Products International announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire National Starch for $1.3 billion in cash from AkzoNobel, the largest global coatings and specialty chemicals company, headquartered in The Netherlands.

Shares of Corn Products are down 11.75%.

Global Payments ( GPN - news - people ) was notified by CIBC that CIBC would not renew the Visa sponsorship agreement with the company, and as a result, the agreement will terminate at the end of its ten year term in March 2011.

Global Payments has already filed an application with Canadian regulatory authorities for the formation of a loan company in Canada to enable the Company to directly process Visa transactions in Canada beginning in March 2011.

Shares of Global Payments are down almost 9%.

Ralcorp Holdings ( RAH - news - people ) will acquire all of the outstanding shares of American Italian Pasta Company ( AIPC - news - people ) common stock for $53.00 per share in cash, for a total purchase price of approximately $1.2 billion, net of cash acquired.
